Kindness

On my way to school one morning I saw a mother hitting her child on the metro as he apologized for what he had done. She didn't stop there she continued to yell at the child for his wrongdoing for 3 stops (metro stops). There was no remorse with her. He just sat there crying, I mean he already apologized what more could he have done. There should have been a limit to her anger. Maybe should could have handled that situation with a little more kindness and compassion. After he apologized she could have been accepting and understanding there was noneed to esculate the situiation. Situations like that leave kids with emotional scars and that's how we get our murders and robbers (in my opinion).

FERGUSON

My reactions to Ferguson:
What role does the media really play in this case?
How could this not be a race issue?
Why are we regrssing?
Why are black considered a threat when they are almost always the victims?
What is going wrong in the police force?

R.I.P Marion Barry

Marion Barry was very influential politician in DC. He was well known and respected across the world. He was the cause of things like the summer youth employment program and an advocate for African- Americans during the civil rights era, president of the city's old board of education, placed many women and African-American in middle class and high power positions in the city government. He was a key player in the overall betterment of DC.
Although Marion had trouble with the law he was still a completely capable leader. He should not be judged on his tribulations because everyone has their own issues. He proved himself to be a great leader in DC and that should not be over looked because of some problems he ran into in the past. One of the reason he was such a great leader was because he was a common man. He remained an active community member even after his reputation was tarnished by the media. In the words of Marion Barry he was still able to “walk with kings” and not “lose the common touch,” a quote from “If” a poem by Rudyard Kipling. TMZ reporting his death as "Crackhead Mayor dies" is just an example of ignorance of the media and why people should'nt judge others based off of what they hear.

Ebola cartoon

  1. This carton is  showing how the U isnt really doing anything about the Ebola crisis because they cut the national health budget and haven't done anything to compensate for it.
  2. The characters being depicted in this cartoon are African- American firefighters but also doctors helping to stop the spread of Ebola
  3. I agree with this message because Ebola is like a wildfire that is continuing to spread and people are trying to stop it but its hard when they're not being provided with the resources they need to end it.
  4. UN isn't helping much with Ebola in African
           Ebola is spreading like wildfire

EBOLA :o

Kiah McGill

Ebola is an infectious and generally fatal disease marked by fever and severe internal bleeding, the disease is spread through contact with infected body fluids according to google. According to pbs.org Ebola seems to be spreading at alarming rates in Africa because people who have the disease aren't speaking out about it. Many africans are trying to hide their disease instead of seeking medical assistance and don’t want to be separated from their family. As a result of this many people are becoming contaminated and not even knowing it. Other people are trying to seek medical attention but they’re getting denied because there aren’t enough doctors and they are not provided with all the tools necessary to treat this infectious disease. Ebola is different in the U.S because there are so few cases and they small amount of ebola cases present in the U.S are receiving nation wide attention so that the other American citizens may know the status of these patients. I don’t think that American citizens should be so worried about Ebola breaking out because it probably won't spread that far in the U.S. The three cases of Ebola that have been present are handled very carefully by the U.S health department. New vaccines are being created to treat ebola meaning that this disease is not if fact “never ending”. American need to think of their own ideas on how to deal with ebola because Conservative have been presenting ideas that’ll contaminate more people and twisting facts to make the disease seem like more than it is (http://mediamatters.org).

  • This commercial uses John Stamos to sell Oikos Greek yogurt as well as the two other men from full house
This commercial is aimed to appeal to women
This is an example of Pathos because it’s using sex to evoke certain feelings but also bringing in an element of humor
This is an effective ad because people watching this will be moved by the characters in this commercial because it's like a full house reunion within the commercial.
I really liked this commercial very cutting edge and funny. It also brings back nostalgia from when I used to watch full house as a child.
Beer Commercial
This commercial uses different visual effects and graphics to draw in customers
  • This commercial can be appealing to any adult
This is an example of Logos because the company uses these visual effects to try and persuade customers to buy their products
This is not an effective commercial because it just has excessive graphics and it gets annoying after a while
I didn't like this commercial because there was no distinctive quality that would make me want to buy this product
  • This commercia uses all different types of people happily humming the "Happy and you now it" song as they use Heinz
  • This commercial is appealing to all individuals
  • This is and example of Pathos becasue it makes people happy
  • This is an effective commerical because people see other people who look like them beimg happy so they imagine themselves being happy
  • I like this commercial becasue it leave the viwer in high sprits

Social media/ News

I usually get all my news from twitter and if the story is important of interesting enough I go to check them on news sites. I don't know what to trust honestly, I pretty much only trust the articles that present me with hard hitting evidence and data. I also pick up the Express newspaper when I am on my way to school in the morning as well as listening to NPR radio in the car with my mom (by force). Sometimes when I scroll Worldstarhiphop they have some video clips from the news that I watch.

Credible sources would be newspapers like the New York Times, the Washington Post. News sources that aren't credible would be the National Enquirer, and other tabloid sources. The Washington post is a legit corporation that provides their readers with proof of the stories they right about. Tabloids publish speculation articles with no evidence or data because they're writing to keep someone entertained and not to present real factual news.

I am a social media content creator because I voice my opinions on certain things on my social media page. I do go on rants about different subjects every once in a while and when I do people respond to me with their thoughts on that particular subject as well. From that small interaction other people reading the conversation form and share their opinions and then it becomes a hot topic on social media. I am also a social media content contributor because I share my thoughts on other hot topics someone else may have started.
